“Then Samuel… called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.” – 1 Samuel 7:12

K006 - Custom made general purpose shoulder bag

These types of bags have been used in various forms for many centuries, and they were very common in early Colonial America through the late 1800s.  While there were some variations through the years, they often consisted, as ours do, of a simple natural canvas pouch and flap with a shoulder strap of the same material.  We currently offer these on a custom-made basis, made to your measurements and specific flap shape (the styles and number of button holes in the flap varied depending on the period).  To the left is a picture of one we made several years ago, this one has a single button (probably more likely in the mid-1800s), and has been jerry-rigged to shorten the strap (I made this one a little on the long side).  Please shoot us an email to discuss the details of the haversack design you desire.  We hope in the near future to offer pre-made haversacks for those not seeking specific design features.
